Vatsalya
Vatsalya is a resource center for health that strives to improve health and social development indicators with a specific focus on the upliftment of women and children. It achieves this through research, advocacy, program implementation, trainings and capacity building of Community Based Organizations (CBOs). Initially focused on preventing sex-selective abortion, it has broadened its focus to include other areas such as nutrition, child-rights protection, child survival, sanitation and implementing & monitoring government schemes such as Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) and National Health Mission.
Participant Profile: Dr. Neelam Singh (Founder)
Dr. Neelam, a gynecologist by profession, has 20 years of experience and technical expertise in the development and public health sector. She also works on adolescent health issues from a human rights’ perspective and experiments to create replicable models of change. She has served as a member of Central Supervisory Board. She is currently a member of the National Inspection and Monitoring Committee (NIMC). She serves as guest faculty at the National Judicial Academy (Bhopal) and has been taking regular gender sessions of Chief Judicial Magistrates (CJM), Senior Prosecuting officers (SPO) & civil judges. She has been awarded the Rani Laxmi Bai Award, 2016, the Dasra Girl Power Award, 2015, the 15th Rotary India Award 2006 and the Acharya Vinoba Bhave National Volunteer Award, 2001.
