Leaving No One Behind: Ensuring Inclusive Sanitation For Every City
While the achievement of the Swachh Bharat Mission is laudable in terms of creating infrastructure for sanitation, it is pertinent to drive the conversation towards delivering sanitation services to the most marginalised in a safe and dignified manner. Shining the spotlight on the urban poor, women, transgender persons, and other vulnerable communities, who continue to be the most affected when cities are not planned with a lens of inclusivity and equity, is pertinent. Join us, as we explore the best practices to ensure that inclusive sanitation is embedded right from planning to implementation and monitoring of sanitation programmes and investments. This session brings together local and state government officials along with organisations that support state governments for policy implementation to discuss the holistic impact that inclusive sanitation can have on vulnerable groups and the power that it holds to make cities truly resilient. |

Empowering Communities Through Data: Reimagining The Future Of India
Session Partner: Bloomberg, Societal Platform
The age of data and analytics has swept the world. Information that can be used to draw meaningful insights has become one of the most valuable assets. However, the journey from data to insight is wrought with many challenges. While data continues to remain siloed, unavailable and lacks credibility, governance structures to ensure proper oversight, transparency, and accountability of data usage are also under evaluation. This calls for a shift to a more practical approach involving the creation of easy-to-use frameworks and tools and designing emancipatory data solutions to support new horizons in rebuilding our communities. This session brings together diverse stakeholders to explore how the power of data can be harnessed to empower the most vulnerable. It will highlight voices and stories from the ground, and showcase how data is being used towards building agency and empowering communities. Join us to engage in conversations around how non-profits and communities can comprehend, interpret and use data, the role philanthropy can play to enable this environment, and question existing stories to rethink the future of India’s Development Sector. |

Building Philanthropic Infrastructure: A Clarion Call For India To Step Up
Session Partner: Bain and Company
While India has emerged as one of the fastest-growing economies in the world in the last decade, its growth story needs to be more inclusive. Over the last 5-6 years, the Indian philanthropy sector has shown interesting trends across funder segments – CSR, retail, and family philanthropy. On the one hand, the pandemic affected the inflow of funds to the sector, but it also inspired a spark of generosity among people who had never given before. The cadre of new givers in India’s philanthropy landscape is issue-driven, eager to learn, and demand more transparency, thus holding the power to transform social impact giving. India now stands at a crucial juncture that calls for greater investment in building a robust philanthropy infrastructure to support different funder cohorts.
This session will launch the India Philanthropy Report 2022, which provides a comprehensive view of the key statistics and shifts that have defined India’s giving landscape over the last few years and stresses the need to invest in building an enabling ecosystem for all funder segments. Leading thinkers in the sector will join us to build on this perspective and engage in dialogue about how to proceed using this data as a tool and a vehicle to do more and do it better. |

Giving With And For Youth: Exploring Participatory Approaches To Philanthropy
The 10to19 Dasra Adolescents Collaborative has been exploring the practicalities, actions, and tangible solutions necessary for collaborative and demographic-focused philanthropy for India’s adolescents. This session seeks to bring together a group of diverse funders, sector experts, and young people to discuss the importance of adolescent and youth participation and leadership in programming, interventions, and funding decisions that impact young people themselves.
The session aims to have real conversations and transformative dialogues on catalytic, participative ways of funding, the impediments and practical challenges one faces in deploying these approaches, and learnings and insights from global initiatives that have meaningfully engaged youth voices.
