Swasth Foundation
Swasth is a nonprofit social enterprise that operates a network of self-sustainable primary health centers, conveniently located in the slums of Mumbai. Each center provides comprehensive primary preventive care services (i.e. doctor and dentist consultation, medicines, diagnostics, day care procedures, disease management programs, school health programs) at half the market rates to a catchment of 100,000 lives. Swasth has serviced over 250,000+ customer visits and has reduced out of pocket expenditure on healthcare by over Rs. 43 million.
Participant Profile: Garima Kapila (Trustee and Chief Operations Officer)
Garima graduated from IIT Delhi in 2005, with a B. Tech in Computer Science & Engineering. She has worked with organizations such as McKinsey & Company’s Social Sector Office setup in 2008. Garima moved on to join the core start-up team of 5 staff members during Teach For India's inception. In 2012, Garima joined Swasth, where she managed multiple verticals over the next 3 years Professional Development, HR, Supply Chain, Fund-raising – focusing on improving performance/productivity, institutionalizing systems/processes for scale and training staff to manage operations independently. Garima is currently pursuing a PG Diploma in Yoga Therapy, from S-VYASA, a deemed Yoga University, after having completed a Yoga Instructor's course in 2013.
