Study Hall Educational Foundation (SHEF) was founded in 1994 to provide quality education to girls, boys & children with special needs in urban & rural settings in India. Through their multiple schools & education initiatives they focus on girls’ education & empowerment. They keep the Girl Child and her development at the center of all their initiatives. Their initiatives range from Class room teaching, Teacher training, Non-form education centers, Vocational training, Feminist-based pedagogy, and Adolescent empowerment through discussions on social issues to theatre, drama & community mobilization.
Participant Profile: Shibani Sahni (Director)
Shibani has experience in girls’ education, empowerment, gender, community mobilization, and corporate education. Her overall experience spans across private and public sector organizations and schools in rural, urban settings, and in communities across villages in India. She has worked across geographies, in India, the United States and the United Kingdom. She is also a Director and founding member of a social venture DiDi’s that helps women from extremely poor backgrounds fight poverty, poor quality of life and low self esteem through vocational training. She is an empaneled Education consultant with UNICEF India and CARE India working primarily on the effectiveness of media & technology in Education. Shibani has two graduate degrees in Management, from University of California Berkeley, in the United States and from Monash University, Australia. She has her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Lady Sri Ram College in India.
