Save The Children India
Save The Children India (STCI) is a non-profit organization established in 1988, and registered under Bombay Public Trust and Society registration Act. STCI Works towards preventing exploitation and all other forms of discrimination of vulnerable women and children, and empowering them to lead a life of dignity, self-respect, and independence. Save The Children India has been awarded "Best NGO in INDIA - 2011 “by the Indian NGO Awards. Early Childhood Association has unanimously selected Save the Children Balwadi program, the Best NGO working towards Preprimary Education in the state of Maharashtra.
Participant Profile: Sushila L Shashtri (Program Director- Education)
Sushila has 23 years of experience in the Social Sector in a Senior Management Role. She has been involved with STCI since 1991, prior to which she was the Project in Charge for Education and their Child Sponsorship Project at the Maharashtra Lokhit Seva Mandal and PREPARE (Raigad, Orrisa) as their Project Officer. At STCI, Sushila’s projects got selected for a field partnership in the School Excellence Program Funded by Unicef and she also facilitated Livelihood opportunities for the mothers and young women in the communities by tying up with other NGOs. Sushila holds a MBA in Social Entrepreneurship from NMIMS Mumbai and holds multiple Certificates in courses such as ‘Business Management for Voluntary Service Organizations’, Women Entrepreneurs and ‘Researching Adolescent Health-A Training Program on Research Methods in Adolescent Health’.
