PETER SMITHAM
Peter Smitham is the Chairman of Atlantic Philanthropies, a global spend-down foundation which supports disadvantaged and vulnerable people in the US, South Africa, Vietnam and Ireland and has made grants of US$9 billion. He was previously a Partner and then Chairman of Permira Partners Ltd. (formerly Schroder Ventures), a leading global private equity fund manager. During his time, he has been involved in 250 company investments and has been Chairman or Non-executive Director of more than 20 investments. Currently, he is Chairman of Actis, an emerging markets private equity firm. He is also a Director of Freescale Semiconductors, based in Texas.
