Madhuri leads the strategy and production of video, multimedia, and communications for Field Building at Dasra. She comes with experience in creative strategy, branding and design, development, production and implementation of innovative communications campaigns using multimedia and video documentary, comprehensive online strategies, and partnerships, to mobilize action on social justice.
Prior to Dasra, Madhuri was a Multimedia Producer and Communications Strategist with nonprofit Breakthrough in New York and New Delhi, creating multimedia campaigns and videos to challenge violence against women, on campaigns such as Mission Hazaar (to stop sex selection), Bell Bajao (to call out domestic violence), #Askingforit (to challenge sexual harassment), Restore Fairness (for fair immigration and racial justice) and ICED: I Can End Deportation (a 3D video game on immigrant rights).
Madhuri has also directed various documentaries on gender, including Can't Hide Me commissioned by the Public Service Broadcasting Trust on gender equality and Red Roses about the immigrant experience of South Asian women in beauty parlor in New York. Her films have screened at various festivals and won awards including featuring in SIMA - Social Impact Media Award human rights curriculum. She has also taught courses at Indian School of Design and Innovation, Parsons, Mumbai, on film and documentary.
Madhuri has an MA in Media Studies from the New School, New York, a Postgraduate Diploma in Social Communications Media from Sophia Shree Basant Kumar Memorial Polytechnic, Mumbai and a BA in English from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai.
