Educate Girls
Educate Girls systematically challenges structural, cultural and socio-economic barriers through a combination of community mobilization strategies and child-centric learning and teaching techniques. They improve the quality of education and school infrastructure by leveraging existing resources and empowering rural communities. They engage girl students, teachers, schools, communities and government officials within existing frameworks to create a sustainable, scalable and holistic platform in each village.
Participant Profile: Zeeshan Sumrani (Senior Manager - Programs)
Zeeshan’s association with the development sector began as a volunteer teaching life skills through sports to marginalized and at-risk children. On realizing the immense happiness and fulfillment that the work offered, he chose to make a career in this sector. Presently, Zeeshan has more than 10 years work experience in the development sector in various capacities including program design, management M & E and training. With a Master of Business Administration in Social Entrepreneurship, he has worked with the Aga Khan Development Network, Times Foundation and the Magic Bus India Foundation. He has also been associated as a visiting faculty at the MBA courses of MMK College and Center for Management and Technical Education. He is also on the board of two non-profit organizations viz. Srujna and Darwesh and is helping them in strategic management and sustainability. Despite being involved in his intense professional commitments, Zeeshan continues to volunteer with various organizations both as a grassroot worker and as an adviser to keep the passion for making a difference alive in him.
