Dr. Khera is Deputy Commissioner for the Child Health Programme at the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. He is a medical graduate with a post-graduate qualification in public health, with more than 25 years of experience in public health programs at the national level.
Previously, he has served in the capacity of Assistant Director General and Technical Programme Manager in National AIDS Control Organization, Government of India. He has also served as Technical Programme Manager in the National Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme. His previous roles also include working as an epidemiologist in the Sultanate of Oman, teaching at the National Institute of Communicable Disease, New Delhi. He has investigated a number of outbreaks of communicable diseases and published more than 50 articles in national and international journals, as well as served as a member of various technical bodies of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, WHO, UNICEF and UNAIDS.
