Dinesh Mehta is a Professor Emeritus at CEPT University, Ahmedabad where he teaches urban finance and development planning. Dr. Mehta is joint-director of a major research programme on water and sanitaiton funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. In 2013, Professor Mehta was awarded IWA (International Water Association) Development Solutions Award in recognition of his contribution to research and practice. Dr Mehta was the Director of School of Planning, CEPT University, Director of the National Institute of Urban Affairs, New Delhi, India, head of the Urban Management Programme of UN-HABITAT in Nairobi. Dr Mehta has published extensively on poverty and equity issues, including, among other themes, water and sanitation. Dr. Mehta has a PhD from University of Pennsylvania, a Master’s in City and Regional Planning from Harvard University, and a Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering, IIT, Madras, India.
