It’s Time to Talk: Launch of Deval Sanghavi’s No Cost Extension Podcast
It’s time for India’s philanthropy sector to step down from its pedestal, stop hiding behind lofty jargon, and have a frank conversation about what’s really working, and more importantly what’s not. After dedicating twenty years to the philanthropy sector, Deval Sanghavi, co-Founder of Dasra, is now on a mission to hold a mirror up to the country’s philanthropy sector and examine why even after so much innovation and investment, the inequality gap in India is ever widening. This session will see Deval in conversation with Hansal Mehta, esteemed Indian film director, writer, actor and producer, to launch Deval’s first ever Podcast series No Cost Extension, in which he drives candid dialogues with some of India’s leading philanthropists, NGO and foundation leaders to unpack the mechanics of social change and expose uncomfortable but critical truths about our development sector. Through this conversation, Hansal will explore Deval’s most valuable learnings over the last two decades and his vision to drive more such honest conversations within the sector. |

India Philanthropy Report 2020 | Investing in India's Most Vulnerable with Systems Approaches
in collaboration with Bain The last decade in India has seen remarkable economic growth; however, this has been skewed and left behind critical vulnerable populations. Development efforts and philanthropy in the next decade must target the most vulnerable. This session begins with a TED style talk, followed by a presentation of case studies. Dinkar Ayilavarapu (Bain & Company) will launch the India Philanthropy Report 2020, which makes a case for philanthropists to prioritize vulnerable populations, sectors, and geographies, and to adopt a systems approach in giving. This is followed by case studies of unique approaches that have achieved systems-level impact at scale: Project ECHO which leverages technology solutions for impact at scale, Piramal Foundation through government partnerships, and Sandbox, which enables community-driven innovation. Speaker: Dinkar Ayilavarapu, Bain & Company Moderator: Anisha Dossa, Bain & Company Panelists: Dr. Kumud Rai, Project ECHO; Paresh Parasnis, Piramal Foundation; Priya Agarwal, Antarang Foundation |
