BORDA is a specialist organization active in the fields of poverty alleviation, sustainable protection of natural resources and the strengthening of social structures. BORDA was established as a non-profit organization in 1977. The Mission of BORDA is to improve the living conditions of disadvantaged communities and to keep the environment intact through the expansion of Basic Needs Services in the areas of decentralized sanitation, water and energy supply as well as waste water and solid waste disposal.
Participant Profile: Rajesh Pai Halalje (Senior Technical Advisor)
Rajesh holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Manipal Institute of Technology (1998) and took a professional certificate course in Urban Infrastructure Planning from Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT), Ahmedabad in 2009. With more than 15 years of experience in the development sector mainly in the implementation of sanitation related project of various scales, his domain expertise is in planning, design and implementation of the projects and programs related to decentralized wastewater treatment projects (DEWATS), community based sanitation (CBS) systems & public sanitation and fecal sludge management for small and medium towns. He has worked in coordination with beneficiary communities, private organizations, Non-Governmental and Governmental Organizations. He has also been engaged in formulating city sanitation plans for different cities of India and supported MoUD, GoI for evaluation of city sanitation plan submitted by different cities.
